Exposure Visits

OUR WORK IN MOTION

Exposure Visits

Exposure Visits invite children, families, and educators into a joyful, mobile Montessori environment—right in their neighborhoods, schools, and community spaces.

By bringing the classroom to where children already are, Montessori on Wheels reduces barriers of cost, transportation, and access while honoring the cultures and strengths of BIPOC communities.

Why Exposure Visits?

In many Black, Brown, and low-income communities, Montessori schools are scarce, expensive, or located far from home. Exposure Visits respond to these barriers by bringing Montessori directly to children and families, rather than asking them to come to us.

During an Exposure Visit, children step into a prepared environment full of hands-on materials, storytelling, and movement. Families and educators see what Montessori looks like in practice and begin to imagine new possibilities for learning in their own communities.

WHAT TO EXPECT

What happens during an Exposure Visit?

Arrival & Welcome

Children, families, and educators are welcomed into the mobile classroom. We set the tone with warmth, clear expectations, and an invitation to explore.

Hands-On Montessori Exploration

Children move freely through the space, choosing materials that match their interests and developmental stage. They pour, sort, build, read, and experiment—guided by Montessori principles of independence and respect.

Family & Caregiver Engagement

Parents and caregivers observe, ask questions, and learn how Montessori supports their child’s growth. We share simple tools that can be carried into everyday life at home, honoring families as children’s first educators.

Reflection & Next Steps

We close with reflection and conversation. Families and partners learn how to stay connected with Montessori on Wheels and how Exposure Visits can evolve into ongoing partnership or programming.

Who Exposure Visits are for.

FOR FAMILIES & CHILDREN

Families exploring Montessori for the first time.

Exposure Visits create low-pressure, joyful experiences where children can try Montessori materials, and caregivers can see how this approach honors their child’s curiosity, culture, and identity.

Visits may take place at schools, community centers, neighborhood sites, or family-serving organizations that are already trusted by the community.

FOR SCHOOLS & PARTNERS

Schools & organizations seeking new models.

Exposure Visits are a powerful way for schools, nonprofits, and community groups to introduce Montessori-informed, equity-centered learning to the children and families they serve.

Partners collaborate with our team on location, scheduling, and goals for the visit, ensuring the experience reflects the rhythms and needs of their community.

Our Approach

Culturally Affirming

Stories, materials, and interactions reflect the identities and lived experiences of Black and Brown children, honoring language, culture, and community wisdom.

Relationship-Driven

We prioritize trust-building with families, educators, and community partners, recognizing that relationships are the foundation of any meaningful learning space.

Responsive-Design

Visits adapt to neighborhood, school, and community settings, meeting families where they already learn, gather, and thrive.
